Walhalla vs. Wren Football Games moved up

With wet weather forecast for Friday night, the Walhalla High School football games have been moved up one night this week. Oconee County Schools Associate Superintendent of Administration Steve Hanvey gives details. “Well, it seems that Wren has reached out to Walhalla, Wren is the home team in this game, so they make the final call, but they reached out to Walhalla because there is some concern, I think the most recent forecast has a 100% chance of rain and the temperature around 45-50 degrees and they did not want to play in a cold rain. Obviously, it makes it tougher to play and it hurts your gate, which is a big funding source for athletics. So, they have moved the game and so Walhalla will be at Wren on Thursday night at 7:30pm. Of course, the residual effect of that is that the JV game will move to Wednesday at Walhalla and as far as I know they haven’t changed the kickoff time for that, it will be 7pm.” Both the West-Oak and Seneca High School varsity football teams are on the road this week, but Hanvey said no changes have been to those games at this time.
