Wanderweg Open in Walhalla

The Walhalla Wanderweg, a new walking and biking park in the city of Walhalla, was officially opened on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Earle House. The project, first presented in 2019, was named in tribute to the city’s German heritage. The 0.8-mile path, referred to as the city’s newest park by Mayor Tim Hall, cost about $925,000 and is the result of the hard work of many, including former Mayor Danny Edwards and State Senator Thomas Alexander. The park, along with the restored Chicopee Ballfield and the Stumphouse Mountain Bike Park, adds to the recreational opportunities in Walhalla. The city has no immediate plans for the next phase of the project, which would add a similar trail on the other side of the city.
