Wanted in Seneca, Attempted Murder Suspect Apprehended in Cherokee NC

The Seneca Police Department has been investigating a shooting incident that occurred on N. Stribling St. on July 24th and the suspect, Kendal Ann Ellis, has since been sought for a charge of Attempted Murder. Seneca officers have been assisted by SLED agents in an attempt to locate her. Information was developed that indicated the suspect had fled out of the state. At 9:30 am this morning the suspect was located and arrested in Cherokee North Carolina. The Cherokee Tribal Police arrested Ellis as she was hiding out in a motel on the reservation. As the investigation continues, others may face charges of being an accessory after the fact. The Tribal Police reported that Ellis was in possession of a handgun when arrested and it is thought to be the weapon used in the shooting. Ellis may also face new charges by the Tribal Police. Seneca Police said they will now work through the extradition process to bring Ellis back here to face the Attempted Murder charge. Updated information will be provided when available, police said.
