Water key for Pets dealing with Summer Heat

As warm weather moves into the Upstate this summer, remember your pets.  Triple digit temperatures can be deadly for pets especially when they do not have water and shade, says Oconee Humane Society Board president Randy Vansterdamn.  “You want to care for your animal like it was family.  You want to make sure they have shelter, clean water and food.  You want to make sure they are comfortable.  In the summer, they need to be out of the sun and have fresh water and food.  So, you want to keep and treat this animal like it is a part of your family.” Before you leave the house this summer check on your outdoor animals to ensure they have fresh clean drinking water and covered shelter in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
