Westminster Man arrested for Assault and Battery

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man late last week on charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and pointing and presenting a firearm at a person. 44-year-old Alejandro Amador of Coffee Road was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center on Friday, Nov. 17. Amador was released from the Detention Center on the same day after posting a combined $40,000 surety bond on the charges. Deputies responded to the Coffee Road address during the early morning hours of Nov. 12, in regards to reports of a subject holding an individual at gunpoint. Three men were discovered in the yard, including Amador. The deputy asked Amador if he had a weapon, to which Amador replied he had one but it was at a location on Friendship Road. As the investigation continued, Amador told deputies that his girlfriend took his truck after a dispute from the Friendship Road location where a party was going on and took it back to the Coffee Road address. The victim, who was at the Coffee Road location, told the deputy that Amador produced a firearm and pointed it at her at the Friendship Road location and made threats towards her. Based upon evidence gathered as a result of the investigation, deputies had probable cause to obtain arrest warrants against Amador. Amador turned himself in and was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center by a deputy from the Warrants Division.
