Westminster Man arrested for Kidnapping and Domestic Violence

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, on charges of kidnapping and domestic violence in the first degree, tells Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt. “27-year-old David Alburt Maye of Cooke Drive was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 9:06am after being transported from the Stephens County Detention Center to Oconee County by a deputy from the Warrants Division. A deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division responded to an address on Clearmont Drive during the late afternoon hours of Sept. 24, in reference to reports of a domestic disturbance that occurred at another location. The victim stated to the deputy that Maye had assaulted her at two separate locations and made threats to harm her and her family. Maye also restricted the freedom of movement of the victim as the victim was being held against her will. The victim also told the deputy that there were children present during portions of the assault as well. The deputy observed a physical manifestation of injuries on the victim. The deputy attempted to locate the suspect, Maye, but could not locate him. Based upon the evidence gathered as a result of an investigation, arrest warrants were obtained against Maye on the charges of kidnapping and domestic violence in the first degree.” At this time, Maye remains in custody at the Detention Center after bond was denied on both charges.
