Westminster Man arrested for Kidnapping, Burglary and Domestic Violence

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westminster man Thursday, June 7, on kidnapping, first degree burglary and criminal domestic violence in the second degree charges. Booked into the Oconee County Detention Center was 24-year-old Austin Blaine Myers. A deputy met with the victim concerning an incident that occurred at an address on Hall Street in Fair Play. The victim told the deputy she met Myers, who had made threats to have her arrested and to have her vehicle repossessed. The victim met with Myers, who got into a vehicle with the victim, which was driven back to the victim’s residence. Myers, who told the victim that he would stay with the vehicle, made entry into the house. While inside the house, Myers pushed the victim into a room, would not allow her to leave and assaulted her. Myers eventually left the house and the victim was able to leave the residence with her children. Based upon evidence gathered as a result of the investigation, deputies had probable cause to obtain arrest warrants against Myers. At this time, Myers remains in custody at the Oconee County Detention Center. He was denied bond on the kidnapping charge and was given a combined $45,000 surety bond on the other two charges.
