Westminster Man Arrested On Multiple Charges After Three County Pursuit

(Seneca, SC)——————–A pursuit by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office that lasted approximately 32 miles and 57 minutes this week led to the arrest of a Westminster man on multiple charges. 27 year old Michael Lee Sammons has been charged by the Sheriff’s Office with Driving Uninsured, Reckless Driving, Driving Under Suspension – 3rd or subsequent offense and Failure To Stop for a Blue Light.

Late Monday night, a deputy from the Uniform Patrol Division initiated a traffic stop by turning on his blue lights on a black in color Honda Civic near Seneca due to a defective headlight as the vehicle turned onto Sitton Mill Road. The driver refused to pull over and the deputy activated his sirens and his Pursuit Alert device inside his patrol vehicle. The pursuit eventually made its way into Pickens County and then Anderson County, where deputies there deployed stop sticks. A tire on the passenger side of the vehicle struck the stop sticks at Clemson Boulevard at I-85.

The pursuit continued into the Williamston Area, coming to a conclusion on Oakwood Court. Sammons was detained by Anderson County deputies and eventually placed under arrest by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. Sammons was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center around 1:29am Tuesday morning.
