Westminster Secures Duke Energy Grant for Emergency Response

The City of Westminster has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation’s Hometown Emergency Resilience Operations (HERO) program, enabling the purchase of new chainsaws and pole saws to enhance the city’s storm response, recovery, and public safety operations. Westminster was among 38 South Carolina organizations chosen for the competitive grant, part of $500,000 distributed statewide to bolster community emergency preparedness. Westminster Fire Chief Micheal Smith expressed gratitude, noting the funds will add “lifesaving equipment” to better serve citizens. This investment by the Duke Energy Foundation aligns with Westminster’s commitment to improving public safety and infrastructure responsiveness in the face of severe weather and other emergencies.
