Westminster Traffic Stop leads to Drug Arrests

Officers with the Westminster Police Department arrested two men after a routine traffic stop.  Sister station WGOG reports that two men were jailed, charged with multiple drug offenses. According to Westminster Assistant Police Chief Rory Jones, a driving offense alerted an officer to a vehicle on East Main Street at 1am Thursday.  Assistant Chief Jones credits a K-9 unit with sniffing out what the police say was a mobile methamphetamine lab in the vehicle. Law enforcement records show 33-year-old Joshua Fred Anderson of Fair Play charged with the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine, first offense and 32-year-old Aaron Lionel Burdette of Westminster charged with the manufacture and distribution of methamphetamine, first offense, as well as two other drug offenses and two traffic offenses.  The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit dissemble the lab and safely disposed of the dangerous drugs.
