Wilson Warns of Consequences for Obstructing Immigration Enforcement

Attorney General Alan Wilson warns that any efforts to obstruct law enforcement in response to immigration enforcement will have serious consequences. His statement follows reports of a planned meeting on February 8 to organize a “Community ICE Raid Response Network.” While emphasizing the right to peaceful assembly, Wilson stressed that interference with law enforcement will not be tolerated. Citing increased illegal immigration and renewed enforcement under the Trump administration, he reaffirmed the state’s commitment to upholding federal immigration laws. He also referenced a recent anti-deportation protest in Greenville, where a demonstrator injured two people by crashing a vehicle into a crowd. Wilson urged all parties to act within the law and vowed to prosecute those who obstruct immigration enforcement.
