WITH PRISMA HEALTH, THERE’S A NEW STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The merger of Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health of the Midlands means a new statement of purpose for its member hospitals, such as Oconee Memorial. Starting January 1, the Oconee medical campus of GHS becomes Prisma Health. And last night Hunter Kome, the chief operating officer of Oconee Memorial, told a board of local hospital officials that previous vision and mission statements are being put as aside for a purpose statement. Kome announced the purpose statement: “Inspire health, service with compassion, and be the difference.” Kome told the OMH Holdings Board that Oconee Memorial doctors, nurses, and other employees are working to live up to the statement every day. To illustrate what he meant, Kome read several comments written by hospital patients appreciative of the care they received at Oconee.
