WorkKeys Scores released for SDOC

Test scores from spring of 2017 were recently released for WorkKeys, which assesses employability skills, tells School District of Oconee County (SDOC) Public Information Officer Dr. Sharon Sanders. “The ACT WorkKeys® is a job skills assessment. As a part of the South Carolina Profile of an SC Graduate, the WorkKeys® assessment is used to gage career readiness and is required for all eleventh grade students in the state. The assessment includes three timed tests taking 45 minutes each: Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information. The ACT National Career Readiness Certificate (ACT NCRC®) is a credential awarded according to performance on the WorkKeys® assessment. The credential is awarded at four levels; Bronze NCRC, Silver NCRC, Gold NCRC, and Platinum NCRC. The NCRC measures and certifies the essential work skills needed for success in jobs across industries and occupations. The NCRC is valued by employers, educators, and others in the workforce. We did have over 88.5% of the students in our district earn a NCRC, which is above the state average of 84%. In addition 50% of those were Silver and above. We are above the state percentage of students obtaining the NCRC, and are pleased at that, but our goal is for all SDOC students to obtain the credential. That will be an indication that we are preparing all students to be College and Career Ready.” The SDOC serves 10,500 students with 949 certified staff in 16 schools. The mission of SDOC is to develop productive citizens who are life-long learners by providing exemplary educational experiences for all students.
