World of Energy out of Eclipse Glasses

Duke Energy’s World of Energy is out of eclipse glasses, explains Mikayla Kreuzberger with Corporate Communications. “We have given out close to 30,000 glasses including the School District of Oconee County and the School District of Pickens County.” The World of Energy will be open to the community for eclipse viewing on Aug. 21, but it will not have glasses available to give away on that day, so you need to get your own. Kreuzberger tells what to look for when purchasing eclipse glasses. “So, one of the things you want to look for when you are purchasing your eclipse glasses is on the inside there will be an ISO certification, logo, and then there should be some information. The eclipse glasses that we gave away at the World of Energy read; conforms to and meets the transmission requirements of ISO 12312-2, filters of direct observation of the sun and it will give you some information about how to look at the sun with these glasses on. So, you want to kind of open up your glasses and make sure that on one of the sides it has that ISO certification and some good information about eye protection as well.” Do not purchase eclipse glasses without ISO certification stamped on them.
