YMCA Community Needs Assessment Survey

The Foothills Area YMCA is reaching out to the community to learn what its needs are and ways the YMCA can respond to those needs.  For more than 160 years, the YMCA has been meeting the communities’ most critical social needs and it is determined to keep doing so, explains Foothills Area YMCA CEO Darryl Broome.  “Essentially what we are doing with the help of the National YMCA as we get ready to kickoff a capital campaign and move forward with our plans on building a multi-purpose facility in Oconee County, we just wanted the community’s input.  What we did not want to do is just build a building, have a ribbon cutting and say here it is.  What we wanted to do is from the very beginning just have the community involved and as much as we can build the facility that the community wants, will support and will use and that would benefit all age groups across our service area.” The Foothills Area YMCA is asking the community to take a needs assessment survey.  Based on this community needs assessment, the Foothills Area YMCA will design and deliver new programs and services that address critical issues in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.  Broome says the survey is quick and easy to take.  “It is just some very general questions that ask what are your biggest priorities, what would be your biggest priorities for a new facility, what age group and who would be using the facility from your household.  It takes less than five minutes to take the survey and if you want additional information, there is room in there for you to put your name and contact information, but if you don’t want to furnish that and want it to be an anonymous response that we respect that but we still want the input.” Responses are not individually tracked and are kept confidential.
