2013 a year of change for CU

2013 was a great year for Clemson University, which garnered national attention for its research and programs, named a new president and rose to the 21st spot of national public universities.  The Clemson University Media Relations Department ranked the top ten university stories of 2013.  Ranking third was the retirement of President Jim Barker.  After nearly 14 years in the president’s office, President Barker announced his retirement and plans to return to the classroom.  The number two ranked university story in 2013 was James Clements being named the new president of Clemson University.  On Nov. 11, Clemson Trustees announced that Clements would be the university’s 15th president, succeeding President Barker.  The number one ranked university story in 2013 was the vandalism of Howard’s Rock and subsequent arrest of the men involved.
