2016 Homicide of Randy Smith Remains Unsolved

Five years after the death of Randy Smith, the case remains unsolved. Anderson Area Crime Stoppers and the Smith family are offering a reward of $6,500 for information leading to the arrest of the individual or individuals involved.

Investigators said that Randy Smith was on his way home from work on the night of March 30, 2016, when he stopped by a convenience store on East Whitner Street in the City of Anderson.

As Smith exited the store, on the way to his car, they said he was engaged in a conversation with an acquaintance when a Black male fired shots from the front passenger window of what is believed to have been a white Chevy Cruze. Smith was struck by the gunfire and mortally wounded.

Investigators with the City of Anderson Police Department continue to follow leads in the case but are still looking for additional information, which may be submitted anonymously to Anderson Area Crime Stoppers.
