21-Gun Salute at National Day of Prayer

To honor Oconee County’s fallen soldiers on the 70th National Day of Prayer, downtown Walhalla, SC will resonate with gunfire from military rifles this afternoon. The American Legion Honor Guard will perform a 21-Gun Salute at the Veterans Memorial located next to the County Courthouse on the Main Street side. For those unable to attend in person, the Countywide Prayer Rally will be broadcasted live on YouTube.

Sheriff Mike Crenshaw will be joined by several local pastors to lead prayers in various categories. The closing prayer will be given by Reverend Ted Edgar, who has pastored Seneca’s Full Gospel Temple for almost 60 years, making him the longest-serving pastor of a single church in Oconee County. The event organizers recommend bringing lawn chairs for seating.

The National Day of Prayer events are planned for today in all municipalities and many communities, including Fairplay and Salem.
