30 Day Adventure Across State by SC7

On July 1, the South Carolina 7 (SC7) Expedition team will kick off a 30 day adventure across South Carolina from the mountains to the sea, exploring South Carolina’s natural wonders, raising awareness of floodwater prevention and resiliency across South Carolina and engaging leaders and citizens in the protection and enjoyment of South Carolina’s natural resources.
 
Two(2) of the Seven(7) Wonders of SC are right here in Oconee County. The Jocassee Gorges and the Chattooga River. Oconee County will be highlighted on multiple days of the expedition.
July 1-9am-the Kick-Off event will take place at Oconee State Park. Senator Alexander, Lt. Governor Pamela Evette and potentially Governor McMasters will kick off the 30 day expedition. Following the kick-off, the expedition team will be hiking the 3.7 mile Oconee Passage of the Palmetto Trail to Oconee Station.
·        July 1- 6:30-8:30 at Walhalla Performing Arts Center- Expedition leader Tom Mullikin will introduce the 1-hour documentary “Higher Ground”, a documentary exploring South Carolina’s Seven Wonders and the local impact of a changing climate. 
·        July 2-The Exhibition team will explore Stumphouse Tunnel, Issaqueena Falls and hike the 3 mile Ross Mountain Passage Trail from Stumphouse Mountain Trail to the Oconee Passage.
