37th Annual Oktoberfest underway in Walhalla

Activities are underway in downtown Walhalla as the City celebrates the 37th annual Oktoberfest. This year’s festival features two great events, explains Vanessa Penton, executive director of the Walhalla Area Chamber of Commerce. “We are proud to boost one big festival and two great events. Our Oktoberfest Downtown on Main Street is open now and goes until 6pm this evening. We have live music throughout the festival and we have our Craft Beer Garden open from 4pm until 8pm on the green next to Arby’s. We will be serving our craft beer and the Palmetto Trail Ale will be served there as well because we have the Palmetto Conservation Group in town to talk about Walhalla being the Upstate terminus. We have 85 vendors lined up on Main Street, our shops have stocked their shelves, and they are ready for guests to come in. We also have food trucks and food vendors lined up on Main Street. We open Saturday morning at 9am and go until 6pm and then Sunday afternoon from 11am to 5pm. The bands will be playing on the green all weekend.” Oktoberfest activities also take place on Sertoma Field with gates opening at 6pm Friday.
