55 SDOC Students earn Chairs at Region One Band Clinic

Oconee County was well represented at the 2016 Region One Band Clinic this year. Over 1640 students from the region auditioned in early January. 144 Oconee County band students auditioned and 55 earned chairs in one of the performing ensembles, the most that have ever been selected. These students recently spent a weekend at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC with the other band members from Pickens County, Greenville County, and all the Spartanburg districts. They rehearsed throughout the weekend and, at the end of the experience, put on a spectacular concert that was open to the public. Students selected from Seneca Middle School are Logan O’Kelley, Rylee Williams, Alexis Burson, Jocelyn Pronovost, Evan Cathcart, Chris Blackwell, Bailey Walters, Madelyn Lee, Ellie Cannon (all-state). From Seneca High School, Parker Solesbee, Rylan Lee, Michael Fegan, Hunter Jefferson, Ryleigh Holbert, Sean McCarley, Sean Walters, Benton Halbig, Malcolm Davis, Josh Lasky and Brendan Williams were selected. Walhalla Middle School had Courtney Craig, Abby Zirbel, Steven Saulnier, Chris Carl, Avery McCall and Joseph Garcia selected. Walhalla High School had Lynda Knox, Joshua Leonard, Audrey Boyles, Olivia Lee, Megan Ranalli, Jacob Zirbel, Jillian McNally, Hope Owens, Caleb Kelley and Mackenzie McCrary chosen. Representing West-Oak Middle School are Cylee Price, Sarah Tyler, Alexis Hoover, Luke Smith and Domynic Reed. From West-Oak High School, Belle Tyler, Roman Holder, Seth Brock, Tyler Price, Elizabeth Dodd, Anna Morgan, Jennifer Rose, Amy Faust, Kaylee Jenkins, Rebecca Reed, Chandler Wellman, Nick Kervin, Anthony Storen, Brandon Gonzalez and Wade Brock were chosen.
