8th Annual Rally In The Valley Scheduled For This Saturday At Lake Jemiki

(Seneca, SC)——-The 8th Annual Rally In The Valley is coming up this Saturday at Lake Jemiki near Walhalla. The event is a fundraiser for Oconee Forever which includes a local bicycling event plus a post ride barbeque along with music, beer and craft vendors.

Andy Smith was a guest on the Coffee Time program recently and discussed the the origins of Oconee Forever, an organization that helps to protect Oconee County’s natural resources, historical sites and family farms.

According to Andy, Oconee Forever is an all volunteer organization that is an arm of Upstate Forever and those who are part of the organization are concerned with protecting local resources, family farms and scenic and historical sites.

Andy said that the organization, after last year’s Rally In The Valley, gave $25,000 to the Stumphouse Mountain Bike Park and the Palmetto Conservation Fund.

Andy says these natural resources are beautiful and wonderful but they are also economical resources that helps to bring folks to the community. Those folks may end up staying here but they will spend money to help the local economy, according to Andy.
