AG Wilson Addressed Oconee Republicans Thursday Night

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson flew into Anderson County and then took a helicopter to Oconee County last night in order to address a dinner meeting of around 85 people at the Lighthouse Event Center. The event was hosted by the local group, Oconee Republican Men.

On Tuesday of this week, Attorney General Wilson joined a coalition of 24 states alerting the chief executive officers of three major credit card companies that the recent creation of a Merchant Category Code for the processing of firearms purchases from gun stores is potentially a violation of consumer protection and antitrust laws.

The attorneys general said the monitoring and tracking of firearms purchases creates a “list of gun buyers” and the obvious risk that law-abiding consumers’ information will be obtained and misused by those who oppose Americans exercising their Second Amendment rights.

Wilson also added South Carolina to an amicus brief filing with the Attorneys General from Texas, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Louisiana, Utah, and West Virginia in support of Former President Trump’s right to possess certain materials after the FBI raided his estate at Mar-A-Lago last month at the direction of Biden’s Justice Department.
