Alleged Theft of Food Items from Pickens Area Grocery Stores

The Pickens Police Department recently apprehended a suspect following the theft of over 50 pounds of steak, shrimp, and beef jerky from a local Ingles grocery store. On March 19, officers were dispatched to the Ingles in response to a reported theft. The suspect’s vehicle was subsequently located along US-178. Upon pulling over the vehicle, officers discovered the stolen items. In addition to the food items, a handgun and other high-value food items, believed to have been stolen from a Food Lion earlier that day, were also found in the vehicle. The suspect, identified as Stefanie Brown, was arrested and charged with an enhanced shoplifting offense. Records from the Pickens County Detention Center indicate that she has since been released on bond.
