Anderson County Coroner’s Office And South Carolina Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Monday Accident On I-85

(Seneca, SC)—————–The Anderson County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred yesterday on I-85 northbound. 

According to a press release from the Coroner’s Office, the accident occurred near mile marker 8, which is about three miles south of the Townville exit, which is exit 11. 

The Coroner’s Office says that the crash occurred around 12:14pm with multiple public service agencies responding to the scene. 

The Coroner’s Office says the vehicle involved in the accident was traveling north on I-85 when the driver, who is the deceased, lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the highway striking a guardrail and a large metal post. The vehicle was also occupied by a passenger, who was transported from the scene to the hospital for treatment of injuries. 

The decedent has been identified by the Coroner’s Office as 19 year old Sheldon Azariah Williams from Charlotte, NC. Both individuals were traveling back from Georgia after attending a concert Sunday night, according to the Coroner’s Office. 

The Coroner’s Office says that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
