Anderson Man indicted for Child Pornography

An Anderson man has been indicted for possessing and distributing child pornography.  United States Attorney Bill Nettles announces that a Federal Grand Jury in Greenville returned an indictment against 47-year-old Joey Thomas Carter of Anderson.  He stands charged in a two-count indictment with possessing and distributing child pornography.  The maximum penalty Carter could receive is 10 years imprisonment for possessing child pornography and the penalty for distributing child pornography is imprisonment for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years.  This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
