Annual SC Apple Festival This Weekend in Westminster

The South Carolina Apple Festival in Westminster began on Thursday with an apple baking contest at the Depot. Several dishes were entered, but only a few were selected as winners.

Cindy McGuffin won first place for her apple pie recipe, followed by Susan Hollifield, Diana Barner, and Leslie Dockins in second, third, and fourth places respectively. In the teen category, Hunter Livingston won with his apple dapple pudding, while Elliot Poole took first place in the kids 12 and under group with his dish.

This afternoon, Clemson University President James Clements will deliver the keynote speech at the Rotary Club’s annual apple luncheon at Westminster Baptist Church, to be attended by US Senator Lindsey Graham.

The annual apple festival parade will begin at 5:00pm this afternoon in downtown Westminster, followed by music from 6pm to 8pm.

More events are planned for Saturday, as well. You can view the full schedule of events online at SCApplefestival.com.
