Another River Sweep planned in OC

Over 2,000 pounds of liter was recently removed from the Tugaloo arm of the Chattooga River and now another river sweep is planned for next month this time on the Chauga and Chattooga rivers.  Oconee Soil and Water Conservation District manager Eddie Martin gives details.  “March 2, we will have another river sweep.  It will go on from 8am until noon.  This is in partnership with the South Carolina DNS, U.S. Forest Service, OPUS Trust, which is the Oconee Preservation Unlimited Stewardship Trust, and the Oconee Soil and Water Conservation District.  We will have a number of volunteers meet at 8am at the Ranger Station and then we will all be given specific areas to go out and clean.  Then after noon, we will meet at the Chattooga Sounds Resort for lunch.” You can help reduce liter in area rivers and lakes by always remembering to clean up after yourselves when ever you enjoy the great outdoors in the golden Corner of South Carolina.
