Apparent Road Rage Incident Lands Two Suspects in Jail

On Tuesday, May 9th, Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol Post 52 (Hartwell) received a BOLO from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office regarding a gray Nissan sedan with Virginia license plates, occupied by two black males, who were involved in a road rage shooting incident on Interstate 85 Southbound in South Carolina.

While traveling on GA 77 in Hart County, Post 52 Troopers spotted a gray Nissan sedan parked on the right shoulder with two black males outside the vehicle. Upon investigation, a bullet hole was discovered on the front driver’s side quarter panel, and the victim’s vehicle was found with two bullet strikes – one on the rear left tire and another lodged in the rear center headrest after shattering the rear windshield.

A probable cause search of the Nissan uncovered two handguns and a large sum of cash in the trunk. Both occupants were arrested and transported to the Hart County Jail for extradition back to South Carolina where the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office will handle all criminal charges and process the evidence. No injuries were reported. We will bring more when it becomes available.
