Appeals Board Approves Variance for County’s Tallest Communications Tower

A variance and a special exception to Oconee’s zoning regulations were approved last night by the county board of appeals without opposition.

Duke Energy-owned land at 100 Bad Creek Road will be the site of the county’s tallest communications tower. Duke intends to use the it’s optic and microwave networks for communications, however there is potential for improved cell service in one of the deadest zones in Oconee County.

Once completed, companies can then apply for an attachment to the tower.
