Arrest made in Townville Stabbing

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in a stabbing incident that occurred Monday afternoon in Townville.  According to investigators, dispatchers received a call around 5:27pm reporting that a man had been stabbed at a location on Peartree Lane, near the town of Townville. When investigators arrived on the scene, the man was transported to Oconee Medical Center with non-life threatening wounds.  During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the man and his wife had a verbal argument.  That argument led to an altercation with the man allegedly picking up a coffee cup, throwing it and hitting her in the head.  The man then reportedly approached his wife, whereupon she allegedly picked up the knife and stabbed him.  When the male was released from the hospital, investigators placed him into custody after determining he was the primary aggressor in the altercation and transported him to the Oconee County Detention Center.  45-year-old Gary Wilmarth, Jr. is currently being held on a temporary custody order while investigators seek warrants for criminal domestic violence. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation.
