Audit presented to SDOC Trustees

A financial account of the School District of Oconee County was presented Monday night to the Board of Trustees. The district’s outside auditor, Don Estep, reported no problems, explains Gloria Moore, executive director of finance for the School District of Oconee County. “The audit went very well. We were very proud that the auditors expressed an unmodified opinion that means that they did not have to make any significant changes to our recorded financial transactions, everything was suitable for them. We didn’t have a lot of comments for the board. Our net position has increased some, which just means that the difference between what we own and what we owe has increased. That is because we are building buildings and increasing the value of our property.” Stancil, Cooley, Estep and Stamey reported that the accounting year that ended June 30, showed the district’s records reflected a $7 million increase in its net financial position, to a total net position of $147 million.
