Back to School by the Numbers in Oconee

The Oconee School District recorded a total of 9,691 students present on the first day. However, Steve Hanvey, the associate superintendent, noted that 510 students were marked as absent. When combined, these figures point to an overall enrollment of 10,161 students. Regarding the students who were absent on the opening day, Hanvey explained that this category includes students who have relocated, but the district has not received their information or withdrawal forms. He mentioned that the numbers for Monday will provide a clearer picture of the actual enrollment for the current academic year within the county’s public school system.
