Back To School is Around the Corner

While Oconee County’s school population and their parents may still be in a summer mode, the county school district headquarters in Walhalla is preparing for a new academic year. Dr. Michael Thorsland, the district superintendent, announced on Monday night that teachers are due back on the job next Wednesday, followed by a first day of classes for students on Thursday, August 3.

The task of finding adequate substitute teachers has prompted Oconee school administrators to engage an outside firm, Kelly Education Partnership, to recruit and hire subs.
