Big Turnout for Utica Mill Development Public Hearing

A crowd of about forty people gathered at the Shaver Rec Complex Friday afternoon for a public hearing with members of the State Housing Finance and Development Authority regarding the development of the old JP Stevens Mill at Utica into 120 workforce housing units called Seneca Mill Lofts.

In attendance were several city and county government representatives, including Seneca Administrator Scott Moulder, as well as city council member Ernest E. Riley, county council member Julian Davis, former member Paul Cain, and Oconee Democratic Party Leader Jody Gaulin. All spoke in favor of the project, with none voicing opposition…

Another hearing with the developer will be held in the near futre, organizers of Friday’s hearing said.
