Black Friday Shopping Safety Tips

The day after Thanksgiving has become a holiday unto itself and this year Black Friday will be celebrated by millions of Americans looking to find a deal on Christmas presents.  Unfortunately, criminals will be looking to find a deal on Black Friday as well, explains Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Jimmy Watt.  “If you are going to be shopping the day after Thanksgiving and in some cases, some places will be open on Thanksgiving, always know your surroundings.  If you can shop or go with more than one person that is a good thing.  Packages and purses, if you don’t want to take them inside, lock them up in your trunk; don’t leave anything in view in your vehicle.” Don’t be a victim this holiday season, follow this safety advice from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office when shopping this year.
