Bobcat Girls Track ties for Eighth Place

The varsity girls track team at Seneca High School (SHS) finished in a tie for eighth place at the State Championships at Spring Valley High School on Saturday. They were led by individual state champion in the 800 meters, Sariah Stewart (2:19.57). Carson Towe was the state runner up in the 3200 meters (11:49.43), and finished fifth in the 1600 meters (5:33.86). The 4×800 Relay team of Stewart, Towe, Rhylee Wittrock, and Catherine Cann finished third overall with a season best time of 9:56.22. Finally, the 4×400 relay team of Stewart, Wittrock, Nyqueyah Henderson, and Avery Raines finished eighth overall with a time of 4:22.31. All competing members of the girls team at the state meet will return next year. The team will celebrate their successes at the Track and Field Banquet on May 21, at 6pm at Trinity Baptist Church.
