BorgWarner named new supplier for Toyota Tundra

BorgWarner manufacturing at Seneca is now the North American supplier of two-speed, part-time four wheel drive transfer cases for the Toyota Tundra pickup truck. The formal announcement was saved for an elaborate event Friday at BorgWarner’s plant on Wells Highway in Seneca.  Chris Walsh, manager of the BorgWarner Plant in Seneca thanked those in attendance for their part in becoming the new supply line.  “Without the support of the organizations that each of you represents we could not have grown or developed the capabilities that have allowed us the honor of becoming part of the Toyota supply base on the driveline and to have our transfer case on the outstanding 2014 Toyota Tundra.  So, we thank all of our guests and your teams for that support.” Oconee County and South Carolina were credited for having provided economic incentives for the company to invest $60 million at Seneca and, in the last five years, create nearly 500 new jobs there. The plant now counts 680 employees who work three shifts. Borg Warner President and CEO James Verner thanked employees for their hard work.  “The fourth people is probably the most important piece and that is the people and the family of BorgWarner.  Here today all the folks in the red shirts and all the folks in the front, you are the living example again today of what makes BorgWarner the greatest automotive company in the world and I want to thank everyone of you in those red shirts.” Borg Warner transfer cases for the Toyota Tundra switch between two-wheel and four-wheel driving while moving or “shifting-on-the-fly.”
