Cain seeks Pilot Study Grant on CAT Buses

Oconee County seeks a federal grant for a pilot study on extending the CAT Bus System to other parts of the county. Oconee County Councilman Paul Cain recently made a motion to explore funding possibilities. “In order to reduce the costs on our system, I have asked and the rest of Council voted to direct Oconee County Administrator Scott Moulder to look at how much would it cost the county to apply for grant funding for a pilot study and see if grant funding is available for a pilot study.” Cain said the CAT Bus System is changing people’s lives in Seneca and would like other parts of the county to benefit as well. “I think it is very important in terms of economic development and other facets of our community. I think it is important that we make employment opportunities, educational opportunities and the resources that are available both government and non-profit in our community accessible, not just to those people who live near the existing CAT Bus route in Seneca but also to those living in Westminster, Walhalla, Salem, Fair Play, etc.” Moulder said he would work with the City of Seneca on a grant application to study the impacts of expanding the CAT Bus System to Westminster and Walhalla on a trail basis.
