Cancer claims life of OC Councilman

The Oconee County community is mourning the passing of a great leader.  77-year-old Archie Barron, who is a member of the County Council died at 4:30pm Monday afternoon at Oconee Medical Center.  He was completing his first, four-year term as the Oconee County councilman representing the Seneca area.  Barron chaired the council’s Real Estate, Facilities and Land Management Committee.  He was also well known for his volunteer service in the community, most notably serving on the Board of Directors for Oconee Medical Center for 19 years as well as the hospital’s Foundation Board.  Barron died of complications due to a lingering battle with cancer.
