Candidate Forums in Oconee and Pickens

Throughout October, interested residents of the tri-county area of Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens counties have several opportunities to meet and question candidates for offices on the Nov. 4 ballot, as the Clemson Area League of Women Voters announces three open forums featuring candidates for various local offices. “We have confirmed dates at this time these for three League-sanctioned forums for local offices, with others in the planning stages,” said Sandra Gray, co-president of the local League. “Our forums are open to all interested area residents, and we encourage audience members to submit written questions to the candidates on the panels. We explain the guidelines at the opening of each forum.” The first forum is planned for Oct. 6 at 6:30pm in the World of Energy Auditorium at Duke Energy’s Oconee Nuclear Station with candidates Allen Brewer and Jerry Lee, for the District 1 seat on the Oconee County School Board scheduled to speak. The second forum takes place on Oct. 15 at 7pm in Council Chambers of Central Town Hall with candidates Philip Bowers, Kevin McKenzie, Tony Qualkinbush and Jennifer Wood for the District 2 seat on the Pickens County School Board planned. The third forum is Oct. 30 at 7pm in Council Chambers of Clemson City Hall with candidates Ray F. Brown, Jerry O. Chapman, Tim Fowler, June Hay, C. Martin Tiller, and Jeremy Wright, contending for three seats on the Clemson City Council to attend.
