Candidate Qualifying in OC

There will be a few contested races on June 12, in Oconee County. The filing period has ended for South Carolinians who want to compete in their party’s June 12, primary elections. In Oconee County, those offices include Probate Judge, County Council, and State House of Representatives. Oconee County Voter Registration and Elections Director Joy Scharich gives the candidates who filed locally. “We have several unopposed and we do have some opposition. In the South Carolina House District 2, there is Bill Sandifer, Republican and Jody Gaulin, Democrat. In South Carolina House District 1 Bill Whitmire, Republican unopposed. Countywide Probate Judge, Kenny Johns Jr., Republican unopposed. We also had some county council seats, seats 1 and 3 that will be up this year. In county council seat 1, we have Edda Cammick, Republican and John Elliott, Republican and the winner of that primary will run in November against Democrat Bill Bruehl.
