Cars and Fireworks in Seneca on the 4th

Spend the 4th of July in downtown Seneca. On Saturday, the city invites the community to Cruzin’ on Main, explains Seneca Events Coordinator Riley Johnson. “It all kicks off at 3pm at Norton-Thompson Park with the Big Show, Donnie Big-in White and all the cruisers. We are averaging around 100-150. Of course, you get those collectable t-shirts just for registering your car. You want to get this t-shirt because it is red, white and blue. So, go ahead and make plans to come on down.” After the Cruzin’ everyone is invited to Gignilliat Field for some live music and fireworks, adds Johnson. “Starting at 5pm the gates will open, 5:15pm, the Bruce Helgeson Trio goes on stage followed by Chasin’ the Blues and then we’ve got Charlie Brown’s Tribute to the Coasters around 8:15pm right up until the award winning fireworks show around 9:30pm.” That is not the best part, continues Johnson. “You know the best part about this fireworks show and this concert, it is absolutely free.” Johnson cautions motorists about roadwork in the area. “If you haven’t been to the Gignilliat Field area in a while, you are going to notice a lot of work being done to improve the roads and you are going to see some messed up sidewalks and roads. The roads will be open, please drive carefully on the gravel. There will be handicap parking available at the Gignilliat Community Center and at Northside Elementary School with golf carts taking you right where you need to be for the fireworks and concert.” For more information on the city’s 4th of July Celebration, visit www.seneca.sc.us.
