CAT announces New Mobile App

Clemson Area Transit (CAT) announces a new mobile app featuring GPS technology, allowing riders to track their bus on their cell phone. CAT executive director Al Babinicz says it is easy to use and very beneficial. “CAT Bus riders will be able to see their bus on a special free CAT Bus App that they can download off our website at www.catbus.com to find out when their next bus is coming and it will also tell them what percentage the bus is full. They will also be able to get alerts about weather issues, traffic delays and what time their bus will be at their stop in advance of it getting there, so that they can better prepare to be at the stop and meet their bus. It is very user friendly and it’s free.” This is a unique service offered to CAT Bus riders, continues Babinicz. “CAT was the first to install Google transit technology on all of its buses, but we’re also the first in the nation to install the capacity information on the app. It’s a wonderful service and its one of a kind in the nation for a one of a kind bus system in the nation.” A federal technology grant of $160,000 awarded to CAT back in July paid for the real-time tracking system.
