Celebrate the U.S. Constitution on Wednesday

Sept. 17 is Constitution Day, which is a celebration of the signing of our nation’s founding document in 1787. Schools and federal agencies are holding educational programs in observance of the world’s oldest written constitution. American Bar Association President William Hubbard, a South Carolina lawyer, is calling on everyone to participate in the annual observance. “Let’s pause to reflect on the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. The fundamental liberties we enjoy every day, from searching the internet to simply residing in the safety and privacy of our own homes. On Constitution Day, let’s celebrate not only the birth of our government, but the principles that make us Americans.” For ideas and information on how you can observe Constitution Day, visit www.ABAconstitution.org. The City of Seneca has declared this week to be Constitution Week. Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander and the Seneca City Council encourage all citizens to study the Constitution, and reflect on the privilege of being an American with all the rights and responsibilities, which that privilege involves.
