Clemson and Seneca among the safest cities in South Carolina, according to SafeWise report

A new report by SafeWise, a home security and safety website, has ranked the 20 safest cities in South Carolina based on the FBI’s most recent data on violent crimes and property crimes. Clemson and Seneca, two cities in Oconee County, made the list at number 9 and 20, respectively.

According to the report, Clemson reported 1.8 violent crimes and 18.5 property crimes per 1,000 people, while Seneca reported 3.4 violent crimes and 19.7 property crimes per 1,000 people. Both cities had lower crime rates than the state averages of 5.2 violent crimes and 25.9 property crimes per 1,000 people.

The report also revealed that South Carolina residents share similar levels of concern about crime as the rest of the country, and that the statewide crime rates have decreased this year. However, the report noted that South Carolina still has the highest rates of violent and property crime in the South Atlantic region, and that people in the state are more worried about gun violence than the average American.

The report suggested that one of the best ways to prevent crime and increase safety is to install a home security system. The report also provided resources and tips for emergency preparedness, package protection, and personal protection.
