Clemson and USC Players named to Award Watch Lists

Several players from both Clemson University and the University of South Carolina were named to college award watch lists this week.  For Clemson Tajh Boyd and Sammy Watkins were named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, which is presented to the best football player in the country. Vic Beasley was named to the Bednarik watch list that award is given to the nation’s best defensive player. Brandon Thomas in on the watch list for the Outland Trophy, presented to the nation’s best interior linemen. Chandler Catanzaro was named to the Lou Groza watch list, which is given to the nation’s top collegiate place kicker. Spencer Shuey was named on the watch list for the Lott IMPACT award that honors players who have made the biggest impact on their teams both on and off the field.  For South Carolina Jadeveon Clowney headlined the Bronko Nagurski watch list. Clowney was also named on the watch list for the Bednarik award, which also is given to the nation’s best defensive player. South Carolina had two players identified as potential winners of the Outland Trophy, A.J. Cann and Kelcy Quarles. Rory Anderson was named to the list for the John Mackey Award, which honors the most outstanding collegiate tight end.
