Clemson Bike Survey

More men than women ride bikes at Clemson University. The Clemson Bicycle and Pedestrian 2013 Count Report was recently released to help leaders consider the opportunities to support the use of alternative modes of transportation on campus.  The 2013 count was the third year for cyclists.  The report found 77% of cyclists are males, 75% of cyclists rode in the street, not on sidewalks and 25% wore helmets.  By comparison, in 2012 the report found 81% of cyclists were males, 79% of cyclists rode in the street and 14% of cyclists wore helmets. Over the last three years, the trends have been consistent.  Last year, Clemson University was nationally recognized as a Bicycle Friendly University, one of only 75 institutions of higher education to receive the award. The bicycle and pedestrian count helps support the designation.
