Clemson Board of Trustees Approves Two Major Projects

Clemson University’s Board of Trustees recently approved two main campus infrastructure projects, totaling over $6 million. The projects, which do not require state approval, include a $2.5 million expansion of the R-4 parking lot and a $3.6 million upgrade to Madren’s kitchen.

The R-4 parking lot expansion, financed through parking improvement funds, will add 113 asphalt parking spots, connecting parking lots R-4 and C-1. The project will also include retaining walls, site lighting, security cameras, and a stormwater system with a detention pond. Construction is set to begin in May and finish in August.

The Madren Conference Center’s kitchen will be upgraded using $3.6 million in housing and dining funds and an additional $700,000 in maintenance and stewardship funds. The upgrades will support the anticipated demand from the Clemson Alumni and Visitor Center building, which is under construction nearby and expected to open late fall/early winter. The project, set to begin in May and complete in December, will renovate 8,624 square feet, including new walls, doors, ceilings, and modifications to the loading dock.
