Clemson Candidate filing starts today

Candidate filing starts today for those residents interested in serving on the Clemson City Council. Filing in the nonpartisan election runs from noon today, July 18 through noon on August 1. The Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Pickens County will be conducting the City of Clemson Municipal Election on November 4, 2014 to fill three open seats on the Clemson City Council. Registered voters who have lived in and have been a resident of the City of Clemson for a period of not less than six-months immediately preceding the date of this election may file as a candidate. Candidates will file with the City Clerk at the Clemson City Hall, which is located at 1250 Tiger Boulevard Suite 1 in Clemson during normal business hours. At the time of filing, each candidate must submit a completed Statement of Candidacy Form and pay the $10 filing fee. In accordance with SC Code of Laws, no municipal election shall be held if the same number of candidates file as seats to fill during the filing period and no person has filed a written declaration to be a write-in candidate with the City Clerk by noon on August 15, 2014.
